He said, "I love you,

I'll always be here.

I'm not going away

Please do not fear.

Our friendship is true, and

is no silly game.

My love, do not worry,

I still feel the same.

"So sorry", said he.

"Oh, Please understand,

I love you my dear but

I'm not a free man.

I'm hurting, unhappy

feel pressure and pain.

I need to feel calm

And peaceful again.

Please keep my gifts

They'll help you, you'll see,

You'll look at them often

And still think of me."

Oh! Do you not see?

This cannot help me.

I remember we met!

The problem, my love, is

how to forget!

We no longer laugh,

We no longer share.

My life is so empty

Unhappy and bare.

I'm not like the person

Who appeared in our mail

I'm a happy and carefree

sort of a gal.

But now I am sad,

Abandoned, betrayed,

And yes I'm in pain!

Oh, will I ever be happy again?

Dear reader be warned

Be true to your word.

Care for your friends.

Don't toss them away

With just a brief thought

The pain you can cause

Is deep and acute.

Cherish your friends,

For real friends are few.

Or - some day a ‘friend'

May just do this to you!
